Lake Hayes Water Scheme Review
Hadleys were engaged by the Queenstown Lakes District Council to conduct a thorough review of the current operation of the Lake Hayes Water Scheme to better understand the extent of the capacity problems and the options for a response to improve service and regulatory compliance. We reviewed current capacities and peak demands within the system to identify its limitations then offered alternatives to additional storage and supply and demand management.
This work had some key findings for QLDC which highlighted a lack of telemetry and a deficiency in terms of scheme management. The findings were used to improve peak flow monitoring and have allowed QLDC to better manage the scheme whilst they work on longer term solutions to the growth and capacity issues on this scheme.
