Mt Aspiring Road House

This high end residential house site was initially identified by others as being impacted by the landslide feature known as the Rippon slide. The classification was based on questionable geological mapping.

Hadleys demonstrated the site was suitable for construction of a dwelling by completing a geotechnical investigation including exploratory bore holes on the site to prove the geological history. This investigation confirmed the landslide did not impact the site and a conventional building could be constructed with low risk.

A risk of shallow overland debris flow still remained and this was suitably mitigated by providing an earth protection bund above the building which also doubled as a control for stormwater overland flow paths.

The end result was the client could build their home on a site which had previously been assessed as at risk of landslide movement.
