Civil Engineer, Queenstown

Due to increasing workload we are looking to find an experienced Civil Engineer to assist our team and play a key role in the delivery of some diverse infrastructure projects in the lower South Island. This is a key appointment within the firm with significant career growth prospects.
This is an opportunity for talented and capable individual to accelerate their career and project experience. You will be provided with the opportunity to lead certain projects and develop your own strong working relationships with skilled contractors, Council managers and fellow industry professionals such as planners, surveyors, landscape architects and external technical specialists.
You will be exposed to an interesting and wide variety of project activities and will work at times with international Architects and some of NZ’s leading tourism companies. This could see you involved in all aspects of the civil design and reporting, procurement and construction and contract management of civil elements of high-end residential homes, unique tourism facilities, 3 waters infrastructure, stormwater management devices, jetties, wharfs and other coastal facilities. The scale of projects ranges up to $20M and on a day to day basis you will commonly run or assist on projects worth $1-10M. Clients include local Councils, private developers and large tourism companies who operate some of New Zealand’s most iconic attractions.
You should have:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with a true focus on delivery to time,
- Thorough knowledge of NZ design standards including NZS4404 and relevant codes of practice,
- The ability to build excellent rapport with clients, other engineers, civil contractors and local authorities,
- Experience in administering construction contracts as an Engineers Representative/Contract Administrator or Assistant,
- Experience or an understanding of managing or taking projects from resource consent reporting phase, design, procurement and through to completion of construction,
- At least 2 – 5 years’ experience gained in New Zealand in civil engineering,
- Capability in AutoCAD, 12d or Civil 3D is of assistance, but not essential.

Due to the upcoming departure of one of our engineers and increasing workload we are now looking to find motivated intermediate and graduate structural engineers for our Queenstown office to assist delivering spectacular projects throughout the Southern Lakes region and lower South Island.
This is an opportunity for talented and capable individuals who want to accelerate their career development and form strong working relationships with skilled contractors and building professionals on projects up to $20m in value.
You will be exposed to a variety of project activities and work with international Architects and some of NZ’s leading Architects. For the right candidates this could see you leading small to medium scale projects and be involved in all aspects of the structural design of high end residential homes, unique adventure tourism structures, commercial and industrial buildings, alpine structures, through to construction monitoring, earthquake assessment and strengthening work.
You should have:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills,
- Thorough knowledge of NZ structural design standards including NZS1170 and relevant material codes,
- The ability to build excellent rapport with architects, other engineers, CAD Technicians, contractors, and local authorities,
- A comprehensive understanding of the practical application and design of concrete, timber, and steel structures,
- A minimum of 2 years relevant experience gained in New Zealand in structural engineering design and construction,
- A desire to work towards CPEng status.
